Technology Goals: January 20, 2025

As a newer educator, I am regularly seeking ways to improve my teaching strategies and best serve my students. One of my primary goals in this course is to become familiarized with technological platforms that streamline classroom processes for both myself and my students. Additionally, in the world we live in, technological literacy is paramount, and I want to use technology to empower my students with the skills they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world.

This course offers an opportunity to explore a variety of platforms and tools. By investigating these resources, I hope to identify options that will best meet the needs of my classroom. I am most looking for tools and applications that enhance engagement, simplify communication and organization, and allow for collaboration among students.

The videos from our weekly assignment introduced a compelling argument, "We don’t have a choice of whether we digitally transform, the choice is how well we do it (Digital Transformation Video, 2019)." This statement by Erik Qualman highlights the urgency of embracing digital transformation because it is unavoidable and uncontrollable. What we can control as educators is our attitude and willingness to adapt. I see this course as an opportunity to build a strong foundation in educational technology and develop habits for staying current with technological trends.

Although I have never attended an EdTech class before, I am excited about the possibilities this course presents. My goals have always centered around improving the learning experience for my students, and I recognize that technology plays a pivotal role in achieving that. By the end of this course, I hope to feel confident in integrating technology into my teaching practices and to be prepared to adapt to future innovations. I believe this course will lay the foundation for staying informed about advancements in educational technology which will help me remain effective and relevant in the classroom. Ultimately, I want to create a learning environment where technology serves as a tool for growth, engagement, and success—both for my students and for myself.
